I purchased this cam based on the reviews. I will not say much. Just take a look at the comparison photos. One photo from a cheap EasyN camera ($50) and the other from Huacam HC712.

    Captures:

I am extremely disappointed. I purchased 4 due to reviews. Now 4 of them will be returned for refund. Image quality is very bad, and RTSP on ispy does not work unless you use the VLC plugin.

I purchased one of these to test. Received it very quickly, and had it set up and working with Blue Iris in an hour or two, using the generic “RTSP H.264/MJPG/MPEG4” camera setting.

I must say the video quality from this camera is amazingly good! I have 5 cameras for testing at this time, two of one model, and three others all different models. Dollar for dollar, this camera has a better quality picture than all of the others, which were more expensive (but all have PT capability). The only one that comes close to the same quality is the Foscam FI9820W (now the FI9821W), which is a 720p camera, and is also quite good. It is also a PT camera.

In addition, I’m able to view it on my Android, along with all the other cameras, using my “IP Cam Viewer Basic” app.

Now, if it just continues to work and doesn’t break, I’ll be very happy! I’ll report back on that later…

If you DON’T need PT capability, this looks like it will be a great camera!

**Update, dropping to 4 stars for power supply issue, Amazon hooked me up with a partial credit to buy a new power supply so kudos to Amazon for Awesome customer service. DC adapter had very thin prongs which were loose in electrical outlet and caused the camera to turn off. I also wanted to say that for the power splitter you would have to drop to 12V or use one of the kits that allows you to hook up the supplied DC adapter on one end. I did not intend to lead anyone to believe that you could run 48V via a traditional Power Injector/Splitter to this camera which does not support the POE specification. Amazon has a Splitter that allows you to hook up your own 12V DC adapter on one end and Ethernet separately, on one end it has the male and the other the female adapter. Again this Camera is still an outstanding value and even with the cheap power supply its a great deal and provides an outstanding picture. I also put a seal around the back of the camera where the cords go in as mine was a tad loose when I was working on the power issue. Minor complaint and easy to adjust. I’ve installed a lot of IP Cameras over the years and this unit offers a great picture at a very good price. All of my Camera’s including the cheap Chinese clones have worked for years although occasionally I have had to do some custom tweaks to get the results I wanted not surprising though for the low price range that I usually stick with since I like to go with the best bang for your buck price range.

    Original Review:
I was looking for the perfect balance between price and performance and spent alot of time doing research. This camera will give you 720P results and the colors look true. I have a 6 camera setup with a Blueiris server, this camera puts all of my other units to shame. Were using as a driveway camera due to some recent vandalism in our area. The picture quality is stunning compared with my other IP cameras, after this experience I will only buy cameras with the IR Cut filter, the resolution also makes a difference in being able to see detail. Night vision works great, but don’t expect more the 15-20ft for any IR camera using its own LED’s. You can always use an IR flood light if you need more. Comes with 2 sets of mounts which is great and you have about 20″ or so of cable I was able to use a face plate up under the eve of my garage roof so the install looks perfect. This does require wired power/data, you might use a POE splitter to separate out power and data if you want a single cable fed to the source, in my case I had power close by for the garage door opener so it worked out well. The camera’s built in web server features are pretty much standard but I cant comment too much on that as I use the power of Blueiris which can pretty much take even the most basic IP camera and use the software to handle everything under the sun, from flipping the image, masking zones, motion detection and schedules for the cameras. The combination is potent and this is my new favorite bullet camera. At some point I may add a PTZ with an IR cut filter to my setup but for now 6 cameras is giving me some serious coverage of the areas I need. You wont be disappointed with the image quality on this unit, its outstanding. At work we have over 200 security cameras and none even come close to this little units quality. Ofcourse those are all coax based units but still its amazing the difference. The size is also nice and compact for discrete placement. As another reviewer mentioned use port 8081 for programing the camera initially and stream to programs like BI for RTSP on port 10081. It took me a min to figure that out before I got the image streaming to BI. Outstanding camera value, its definitely worth more then the cheaper bullet cameras due to the massive improvement in image quality. If your even thinking about a bullet camera for less than a 100$ you want to take a look at this unit.
